Therapeutic Massage
At MJTC, therapeutic massage starts with a detailed review of data of a clients current and past complaints. A plum line assessment based on Greenman`s Principles is done, along with other specific orthopedic assessment skills to help find the possible source of a clients complaints. For the assessment it may require a certain amount of disrobing, and therefore shorts and appropriate undergarments may be of benefit.
This type of session may retain a relaxation element to it, but advanced assessment and intrinsic or extrinsic techniques are necessary for therapy treatments that are goal orientated. Frequent treatments and exercise concepts will be used to find specific results. If the results aren't found as quickly as anticipated, a reflection into the treatment plan will be studied to conquer those obstacles.
For the safety of the client some imaging may be referred for suspect complaints. Having the use of MRI, Ultrasound, CT Scan & X-Ray are a huge advantage of more serious problems. A true diagnosis can only be made by your GP and or Specialist. Finding out the results can have a great impact on the team of people you choose to help you with your recovery.

Sports Massage
At MJTC we specialize in sport massage for both pre-event & post-event health, restoration and training. We can schedule an onsite event or arrange bookings at our clinic. Local teams, clubs and individual athletes can benefit greatly from sport massage techniques delivered by a SpMT.
Prevention of injury is how athletes compete at their highest levels. With quick recovery and early attention to acute injury, massage can provide a physiological boost to the athlete. This encourages high performance and enhances a preventative approach to athletic training while stimulating circulation, calming nervous tension, and preparing the athlete for optimal performance.
This is an aspect to the sports world that many people do not consider. Massage therapy is proven to improve an athlete’s performance, and the difference is obvious when compared to an athlete who does not take advantage of sports massage. It specifically energizes muscles groups to perform in the way they need to, and keeps the muscles from growing tired as quickly as a non-massaged muscle.
Massage therapy continues to work within the body long after the session is over. It makes pre-workout and pre-game stretching more effective and easier. And increase the speed of recovery in post workout strains and pains. Probably one of the most important aspects to sports massage therapy is that it can not only greatly limit the amount of pain in injuries, but cut down the risk of potential injuries as well. If the muscles are warmed up and working at a greater capacity, there is less of a chance of them becoming torn or injured in other ways.
Regular massage sessions are healthy for the body, and this is no different for athletes. It boosts the body’s immunity and resistance to pain and injury. This will improve your overall strength and stamina. This is important for athletes involved in any sport who wish to perform at the greatest level possible for their bodies.
Any sport in which you are pushing your body to the limit will greatly improve with regular massage sessions, which are specifically pinpointed to maximize certain muscle groups. If you are interested in sports massage, it is smart to discuss it with your physician and coach, and find the right massage therapist that will help maximize your muscles and what your body is fully capable of.
